Criminal Background Checks

As a condition of employment, and in alignment with the Ministry of Education Act Regulation 298/25 all persons employed with the Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ are required to provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) or Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC) to the Board at the time of hire and once every five years as follows:

  • Individuals in a position of trust or authority in relation to students will require a vulnerable sector check (VSC)
  • Individuals not in a position of trust or authority in relation to students will require a criminal record and judicial matters check (CRJMC)

A letter will be provided, if required to support the request for the appropriate clearance.

A VSC or CRJMC must be completed by the police service in the jurisdiction in which you reside, based on your home address (only accepted from police services within Canada). It must be satisfactory to the DPCDSB and completed within six (6) months prior to the scheduled start date. It is the candidate’s responsibility to provide the results to the Board upon instruction.

Please be aware that obtaining a Vulnerable Sector check (VSC) may take up to 8 weeks to receive.

It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that the above conditions are met. Any cost related to obtaining the Vulnerable Sector Check is the sole responsibility of the applicant.

The Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ treats all information it receives through the Criminal Background Check process consistent with its obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code.
